Welcome to Howe Caverns... We are open every day 9AM to 6PM.... GO UNDERGROUND... the temperature is always 52 degrees, the coolest place to be in New York this time of the year! Our guided tours take one hour and twenty minutes. After your tour try out our gemstone mining and geode cutting. Stop in our Sweet Shop for our homemade fudge, truffles and a cup of Starbucks coffee. Our Cafe is open with a fine selection of deli sandwichs, paninis, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and much more. We have quite a collection of souvenirs and gifts in our Gift Shop. Stay overnight at our motel with an outdoor pool.

Lantern Tours: A New Light for the Great Cave

As mysterious shadows dance on underground walls, visitors return to the world of Howe Caverns as it was seen by Lester Howe in 1842 -- by lantern light -- a unique and fascinating event for group tours or individuals.

For today's Lantern Tours, Howe Caverns turns out the lights and uses modern lanterns as guests experience the spectacular prehistoric world - including the underground boat ride - in a whole new light!

Lantern Tours are available by reservation. Guests must be age 16 or older to take a Lantern Tour. An adult must accompany those between the ages of 16-17. Call Howe Caverns at 518-296-8900 for pricing and reservations.
