The River Styx is what is left of the water source that was responsible
for carving the caverns some two to ten
million years ago. The water comes from several sources on the surface,
and is 42° Fahrenheit, 5° Celsius. The River Styx flows through
the entire caverns and eventually forms the underground Lake of Venus
where the boatride takes place.
