Welcome to Howe Caverns... We are open every day 9AM to 6PM.... GO UNDERGROUND... the temperature is always 52 degrees, the coolest place to be in New York this time of the year! Our guided tours take one hour and twenty minutes. After your tour try out our gemstone mining and geode cutting. Stop in our Sweet Shop for our homemade fudge, truffles and a cup of Starbucks coffee. Our Cafe is open with a fine selection of deli sandwichs, paninis, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and much more. We have quite a collection of souvenirs and gifts in our Gift Shop. Stay overnight at our motel with an outdoor pool.

Howe Caverns and Toys for Tots team up

Thanks everyone for your contributions to Howe Caverns Toys for Tots drive. With the assistance of our guests and our friends at Cobleskill Stone Products, we were able to donate almost 400 toys to the US Marine Corps drive. The toys included more than 100 caver’s helmets from Howe Caverns. We wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. And, we’ll be collecting toys again in 2010.

Howe Caverns has joined forces with the U.S. Marines to help their effort to collect Toys for Tots. We will serve as a collection point so our guests may drop off new toys for children in need.

The Toys for Tots drive will be conducted throughout the month of November and will end on December 17th, when the Marines will come to pick up the toys. All of the toys collected at Howe Caverns will remain in Schoharie County.

Howe Caverns also will have change collection cans available for those who wish to donate funds to Toys for Tots, and will sell paper trains at the ticket office window for a $1 donation.
