Discovery Days

Welcome to Howe Caverns... We are open every day 9AM to 6PM.... GO UNDERGROUND... the temperature is always 52 degrees, the coolest place to be in New York this time of the year! Our guided tours take one hour and twenty minutes. After your tour try out our gemstone mining and geode cutting. Stop in our Sweet Shop for our homemade fudge, truffles and a cup of Starbucks coffee. Our Cafe is open with a fine selection of deli sandwichs, paninis, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and much more. We have quite a collection of souvenirs and gifts in our Gift Shop. Stay overnight at our motel with an outdoor pool.

Discovery Days

Special commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Howe Caverns’ discoverer Lester Howe. Be one of the first to take the new Lester Lantern Tour, complete with a re-enactor and the fiddle music for which Lester was known for playing in the cave. Discovery Days also mark the 168th anniversary of Lester Howe’s discovery of “The Great Wonder Down Under” and the reopening of the cave to the public 81 years ago in 1929.
