See Howe Caverns in a different light, the way Lester Howe (pictured at left) and his guests first saw it in 1842 - by lantern light! All Lantern Tours begin in the museum area with an extensive history. Then you will be guided through the caverns under the full beauty of the lights, to the underground lake where all lights will be turned off and torches and lanterns lighted. The remainder of the tour will be by lantern light, enjoying the mystique of the caverns in a manner similar to the way the early visitors did.
Lantern Tours are offered Friday and Saturday nights, year-round. The tour, limited to 10 guests, lasts approximately 2 hours, beginning at 6 PM September and October and 5 PM November through March. April 1 to July 1, Lantern Tours begin at 6:30 pm. Advance reservations are necessary. All participants must be age 16 or older, with 16 and 17 year-olds accompanied by an adult.
The Lantern Tour package includes one night stay at the Howe Caverns Motel, two tickets for the Lantern Tour.
