Leave the comforts of the civilized world behind. On this exhilarating underground odyssey, you’ll retreat to 1842 and navigate the cave as discoverer Lester Howe did... in the dark! During the boat ride on The Lake of Venus, all electric light in the cavern is extinguished and torches and lanterns guide you.

 

In its most natural state, obscured in shadow, the dark recesses of the cave exude both mystery and beauty. For the balance of the tour, the glimmering rock formations and immense galleries become even more dramatic under the flicker of lantern light. Imaginative and inspiring, the Lantern Tour is an exceptional underground experience.

 

2010 RATES

$30 per person (plus tax)

 

During the months of November through March tours are offered each Friday and Saturday evening beginning at 5:30 PM. From April through October tours are offered each Friday and Saturday evening beginning at 6:30 PM. During July and August Sunday evening is also available beginning at 6:30 PM.

 

Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling 518-296-8900.

 

All reservations will be charged within 24 hours of the scheduled tour date.

All reservation cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to date of tour.

 

No discounts are available for Lantern Tours.

Dress appropriately. Bring a light jacket. The cavern environment is a constant 52º Fahrenheit / 12º Celsius and 70-75% humidity, year round.

 

For the safety of our guests and preservation of the cavern, large bags, backpacks, etc. are not permitted underground.

 

Wheeled devices and strollers are not permitted in the cavern. Above ground areas are accessible to mobility impaired visitors.
