Meet Clare and Alastair, from Holmfirth, England

Meet Clare and Alastair, a couple from Holmfirth, England

just north of the Peak District, who have spent 16 years building a life filled with travel, family, and shared adventures. Their latest trip brought them to the United States to visit family north of Chicago, before turning their visit into a road trip toward Boston. They travel to the U.S. about every two years and have explored destinations including Yellowstone, Niagara Falls, Death Valley, Las Vegas, New York, and Hawaii, as well as countries throughout Europe. Their love of exploring made Howe Caverns a particularly fitting stop. Living near the Peak District, they are surrounded by caves back home and have visited many throughout England, While they are familiar with caves, they were still amazed by Howe Caverns, especially its winding passages and formations. They also loved learning about the importance of not touching the formations, connecting it to their hope that their nieces, nephews, and grandchildren will one day be able to experience these same natural wonders.

What makes the couple stand out is the genuine excitement they have for discovering the world together. They spoke fondly about places they have visited, especially Hawaii, and about their appreciation for America’s incredible variety, from the green landscapes of New York to the deserts and canyons of the West. They don’t simply travel to say they’ve been somewhere, they want to experience it, whether that means exploring a cave, standing beside a waterfall, or discovering a landscape completely different from home. After 16 years together, their adventures continue to take them across oceans and through new places, always with another destination waiting to be discovered. Thank you so much for visiting!
