Meet Kathy and Rob from Astoria, in Queens, NY

Meet Kathy and Rob from Astoria, a beautiful little village in Queens, New York. Rob owns his own restaurant, Oliver‘s, also located in Astoria. He says the secret to running a successful, healthy, and sustainable business is great people. Rob said that he is proud to work with an incredible team that support him daily. Kathy works with a hospitality group making large group reservations. They both love the hospitality industry. While it can be challenging at times, those challenges are well worth it as their jobs are never boring! They met 12 years ago in a pub in the East Village where Kathy was working. Rob and some friends were visiting another employee at the restaurant. It was late and Kathy joked that it was not love at first sight. She was exhausted and just wanted the group to leave so that she could close up and go home. They have officially been together for 6 years. They have been through a lot together. The hardest part of their relationship, but also the glue that holds them together, is the fact that they are opposites. Kathy is a homebody and Rob is a social butterfly. Finding their balance, and coming to a common ground, at times, can be difficult, but they like to think they do so gracefully. Kathy’s favorite thing about Rob is that he’s open-minded. Sometimes, even when he doesn’t want to, he finds the courage to push himself outside of his comfort zone. Rob‘s favorite thing about Kathy is that she is incredibly caring and fiercely loyal. Their goal for the coming year is to finally purchase their first home together. The one thing they want to tell the world is, “It’s important to focus on the world that is right in front of you and be present in the moment with those that you love. Kindness can go a long way and it definitely does matter. Thank you so much for visiting!
