Meet Kirsten, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada
Before the pandemic hit, she and her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The move was one of the hardest hurdles in her life. Shortly after the move, the world went into lockdown. Her family was isolated in a new environment and unable to go out into the community to build new friendships or a support system. Her husband travels a lot for work. Often, it was just her, alone with their children. She leaned into being the best Mom she could be, and like so many of us at the time, she began homeschool. This gave her the opportunity to incorporate faith and spiritual teachings into her children’s education. She said that if there is anything she aims to teach her children, it’s how to be emotionally intelligent and faith-filled. She hopes that in a world full of uncertainty they can be positive rays of light. Currently, they are still homeschool and love that it gives them the unique ability to explore the world and use it as a real time educational experience. She also said that being a Mom has been her best adventure yet! “There’s so much self- reflection you have to do as a parent. I’m not only teaching them but they are teaching me. I’m spiritually growing in ways I didn’t even realize were possible.” A few years ago, the family moved to upstate New York and this time the transition was a little smoother. Kirsten has built a supportive community through her church and homeschooling groups. She said, “When times get tough, I lean into my faith and God. He always brings us through the storm together.” The one thing she wants to tell the world is, “We can be constantly bombarded by the fear and negativity from the uncertainty of the world. When we walk in that constant war path we lean into self preservation. In doing so, our self-preservation and fear becomes hurt, anxiety, judgment and anger. Ultimately, we end up hurting others we encounter on our journey. It seems so cliché but kindness does matter. There is a lot to be concerned with in the world and a lot of struggles are all facing. It’s important to remember we are not alone. We are all going through life together. If you feel like you are alone, try leaning into prayer and gratitude for just a moment. We are all made of the same beautiful stardust.” Heavenly words of wisdom! Thank you so much for visiting!
