Meet Lee-Sara & Rob from Stoke-on-Trent, England
They have been together for fifteen years and have been married for six. Rob proposed at Zion National Park’s, Angels Landing. (Just as a fun dinner party fact, did you know that in 2022, a pilot program was started where in order to access Angels Landing, you must now have a permit that can only be acquired by winning a lottery? There are two lotteries for Angels Landing. The seasonal one opens months in advance and the other can be entered the day before hiking it) Anyway, it is one of the most dangerous hikes in the United States and they joked that it was the most terrifying hike they ever did. That same year on Christmas Eve, Lee-Sara gave Rob a box filled with all sorts of things from Thailand. It was actually the invitation to their own wedding, in Thailand, two weeks later! They love adventures! Their whole relationship has been full of spontaneity and unplanned adventures. Both are planners and project managers in their work life so taking a step back, and going with the flow in their off time, is something they appreciate and enjoy. This trip has been exactly that for them. They booked the tickets from England to JFK a couple of months ago without any plan set in place once they landed. They’ve just been winging it. They said they found us through a blog by a guy named Big Chuck. They were on their way to the Finger Lakes about a week ago and saw our massive iconic white letters on the front lawn from the highway. Big Chuck said that we “are America’s most famous hole in the ground!”(Thank you, Big Chuck! We love you, whoever you are!) They stopped in quickly to see what we were all about. Lee-Sara said that upon their arrival she was looking for a literal huge hole in the ground and was baffled by not seeing it.
They did not do a tour that day but loved it so much that they came back a week later and spent the night in our motel. Lee-Sara said she was slightly nervous about being so far underground but after their tour she was amazed by how beautiful the cave is and is so glad that they visited. When we asked them what they wanted to tell the world, Lee-Sara said, “Trust that everything will always be okay. The universe knows and will guide you.” To which Rob responded, “The universe is fine. It’s the people you have to worry about.”
Lee-Sara & Rob, thank you so very much for visiting our awesome hole in the ground! We are so grateful to have met you. Here’s to many more unplanned life adventures together. Travel with love!
