Meet Matt, Licia & Phoebe from Lancaster, England
Meet Matt (dad), Licia (mom) & Phoebe (daughter) from Lancaster, England Licia is the eldest of three children and has two younger brothers. She was born in Connecticut and moved to Charlton, New York when she was 7 years old. As a child, she spent a lot of time outdoors exploring the woods with her brothers and helping in the family gardens. Licia went to Boston University for astronomy and physics. She currently holds a PhD in astrophysics and planetary science. Today, she is a Lecture in space physics in England. She said, “When I went to college, I went in undeclared. I had no idea. I would end up with a PhD in astrophysics. It’s not something I knew I was fascinated with until I began studying it.” Matthew grew up just outside London, England. He had a similar childhood. He loves the great outdoors and grew up being a Boy Scout. He currently holds a PhD in physics and computing. He said, “I knew at a young age that I was fascinated with computer science and physics. I knew I wanted to study it and make a career of it.” The couple met at Imperial College in London while doing research. They said, “We were friends first before anything. We worked together on a team of researchers. Our team would spend time away from work together. We would often go out for meals or tea. From there our relationship just naturally blossomed.” This June the couple will celebrate 14 years together and in September, they will celebrate 12 years of marriage. Licia said, “My favorite thing about Matt is that he keeps us laughing all the time. He’s very smart, kind, and incredibly supportive.” Matt said, “My favorite thing about Licia is that she sparkles. Every room she walks into she lights it up.” Their daughter, Phoebe said, “I love to read and write. I love school and learning about history and all of the world. My favorite thing about my mother is that she is a very strong woman. My favorite thing about my dad is that he is always very helpful.” The one thing the family wants to tell the world is, “Make sure that you wear your sunscreen!” Thank you for visiting!
