Meet Ravi from India

Ravi immigrated to Queens, New York when she was young. Her parents are entrepreneurs and from very early on, instilled the belief in Ravi that “if you are going to apply your energy into something, doing it halfway is not good enough. It must be done with passion and everything you’ve got.” As a young girl, she thought that maybe she wanted to become a doctor but the queasy feeling that she got around blood made her realize that wasn’t a good choice. She always enjoyed a good debate so she decided that being a lawyer might be right up her alley. She said, “We dedicate so much of our life, time, and energy to our jobs so it’s important to love what you do.” Today Ravi has her own successful practice. She said, “Being in legal litigation is very draining emotionally and mentally for clients. At the end of litigation you can physically see the burden lift off of them.” This makes her job very rewarding for her. She also said, “No matter how passionate you are about your job, it is important to have a good work/life balance. I have worked myself sick for my clients in the past.” This year, she’s really leaning into a healthy work/life balance and making time for herself and what she spiritually, mentally and physically needs. She also said that being a younger female in the legal field is challenging. She often deals with opposing counsel that tries to undermine her, demean her and make her feel as if she is not cut out for the job but this dynamo knows differently! The one piece of advice that she can give is, “Don’t give up on your dreams. Don’t let anyone talk you out of them. Don’t let the voices of others drown out your own voice. Don’t let anyone tell you can’t do it! You can!” Thank you for sharing your inspiring story with us, Ravi and thank you for visiting!

We also had the honor of meeting Preet, Ravi’s best friend, and the president of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association! In 2022 Ravi held the position of president and she is now very proud of Preet of taking the position on. Together these strong beautiful women are working hard to support female attorneys.
