Meet Stephanie from Maryland and Sofia from Bolivia

In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, Stephanie and Sofia’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness, purpose, and unexpected love. Stephanie, a first-year medical student in New Jersey, grew up in Maryland, with Colombian roots and a strong desire to give back. Moved by the health disparities she saw in her community, she chose medicine not just to heal, but to represent. Before medical school, she spent four years doing research at the NIH (National Institute of Health) and working in cardiology—each role reinforcing her passion to serve. Sofia, raised in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, came to the U.S. three and a half years ago with a dream of building something of her own. Now a barista at a grassroots coffee shop, she’s fascinated by the craft and ethics behind every cup. Her ultimate goal? To open her own café that brings people together. “Coffee is connection,” she says. The couple met just two months ago on a dating app, and their first date—at a pottery studio—sparked an instant connection. “I knew we’d be together for a long time,” Sofia says. Stephanie agrees, drawn to Sofia’s genuine kindness and warmth. Despite their busy schedules, they make space for each other and share a vision for the future: Stephanie as a doctor, Sofia as a café owner, and a life grounded in compassion, community, and love. “None of us have done this life thing before,” Stephanie says. “We’re all just learning—so let’s lead with kindness.” From Maryland to Bolivia and now together in New Jersey, Stephanie and Sofia are proving that love, when rooted in purpose, is one of life’s greatest adventures. Thank you for so much visiting!
