Meet Tonica & Joel from the Bahamas

They are missionaries and have come to the United States to help the Delta Lake Christian Camp. The mission of the camp is to equip their members with experiences that allow them to escape their hectic everyday lives while helping them discover their purpose and passion. Tonica is 24 Joel is 25 They have never been to New York before. They said that they didn’t realize how much New York had to offer beyond NYC. Before Joel found the church and Christ, he was lost and looking for love and happiness in all the wrong places. He thought he could find it in people or things. One night, while struggling with his life decisions, he decided he could no longer live the life he was living. He said he was on an unsustainable path and he knew that he needed help to pull himself out of it. He felt as if he had no one to reach out to. In tears and on bended knees, he began to pray. He said that was his “Come to Jesus Moment.” After that night of prayer Joel was able to find the strength to start making better decisions. He pivoted his life into a positive direction. He attributes that strength to leaning into the church and God. Joel has dedicated his life to God and showing others how merciful, beautiful, and miraculous the Lord is. Tonica’s story is similar. They now both work every single day, dedicating their life to faith and service. The one thing they want to tell the world is, “You are not alone.
