Meet Yoritsugu, Tomoko, & Yoriaki from Japan
Meet Yoritsugu (father), Tomoko (wife), and Yoriaki (son) from Japan!
Japan is a well-organized, disciplined country with ancient history and top-notch technology. This Eastern Asian island nation has a rich vibrant history and is packed with castles, temples, shrines and religious sites dating back to 712 AD. It is home to Mt. Fuji, beautiful cherry blossoms, sushi, samurai, geishas, anime, sumo wrestling, and tea ceremonies. Japan also boasts the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing – Shibuya Crossing. It can have as many as 3,000 people crossing at a time! Yoritsugu was recently awarded a fellowship at the University of Albany and is currently studying for his degree PhD in economics. Both his father and his grandfather both studied and worked in that same field. Tomoko is a banker and works for a trust bank. They are staying in the United States for 3-4 years so that Yoritsugu can complete his fellowship. They moved here approximately 4 months ago and said that it was difficult to move to a new country and away from everything and everyone they have ever known. These are all major life changes that some may not manage so gracefully. We could tell by watching this small family interact, that they immensely respect and support each other. They believe this time abroad will be enriching and will only help them to become stronger. When we asked them if they had one thing to tell the world, they said, “Peace is the most important thing in the world. Peace is priceless.”
Thank you for visiting!
