Meet Adam from Cobleskill, NY

We absolutely love it when members of our local community come to visit! Adam‘s family has lived in Cobleskill for generations. Before he was even a twinkle in his parents’ eyes, his grandfather moved his family here from a neighboring town. He proudly said, “Cobleskill is my home. I grew up in Cobleskill until I was 11, then my family moved to Clifton Park. That was one of the hardest times in my life. It was such a huge change from what I was used to. Schoharie County is beautiful county. Here, being one with the land is a necessity and a way of life. I finished my primary school in Clifton Park and then went on to high school at Christian Brothers Academy. CBA was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It helped shape me into the man I am today. The school gave me the tools I needed to lead a life of integrity. The staff helped guide me to my current education in the trades and provided me with resources I didn’t realize were available.” Adam never cared for school until he attended Christian Brothers Academy. He said, “My mother has her doctorate in education and a lot of my family works in the education field. I, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with sitting in a classroom. If it weren’t for CBA, I never would have attended college.” He explained, “There are careers out there for people who don’t want to attend college for long periods of time. The trades industry is in desperate need of our future generations. Careers in the trades will be hard to replace by artificial intelligence. For every 10 people retiring out of the trades right now, there are only two coming in to fill those positions.” Adam has finally returned home to his roots when he and his family moved back to Cobleskill a few years ago. He and a group of competitive archers stopped in for a visit on their way to the National Archery Championships in Massachusetts. Even though he grew up an outdoorsman, he admitted that he had never picked up a bow until last year. He said “I grew up rifle shooting and rifle hunting. I never had much exposure to archery. Three years ago, I picked up my first bow and last January, I competed in my first archery tournament.” The one thing he wants to tell the world is, “Don’t take criticism from anyone whom you wouldn’t take advice from.” Adam, you seem like the type of person that can do anything they set their mind to! Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors and we hope you score big at the championship! Thank you for visiting.
