Meet Alessandra & Mikaela, from Ontario, Canada

Meet Alessandra, age 9 and Mikaela, age 12, from Ontario, Canada These two amazing sisters are bound and determined to keep each other smiling. They have a deep-rooted unbreakabke bond and a beautiful friendship that is very apparent. Alexandra caught Betsy’s eye when she spotted this dynamo zooming through the Main Lodge on her pink crutches! She thought, “she’s pretty incredible!”

Alexandra has Cerebral Palsy, a neurological disorder that affects movement and posture. The cause of Cerebral Palsy and its effect on function varies from person to person. Alexandra said that sometimes people shy away from her, stare, or avoid her because they don’t understand. She would really prefer people ask her genuine questions about her disability and how they can best help her. Alexandra said that she had enjoyed a visit to the Grand Canyon & Antelope Canyon in Arizona. She said that Winding Way reminded her of Antelope Canyon. She is thrilled by caves and adventure. When Betsy asked her if she had one thing to tell the world she said, “Do not let your disadvantages ever stop you from doing what you love.” Thank you for inspiring us today, adorable Alexandra.
