Meet Billy, Terri & Ed from Yuma, Arizona
This is Billy & Terri (married) & Ed (Billy & Ed are brothers) from Yuma, Arizona. In 1947, Billy and Ed’s grandfather had a cabin built on Big Indian Mountain, in the Catskill Mountains. When they were children, they would spend their summers at the cabin. When their mother was a child she frequented the cabin, as well. The cabin has years of magical stories, history, and a beautiful legacy that is being passed down generation to generation. It where Ed met his wife. (not shown here in the photo.) They spent their summers as children adventuring in the Catskills together. Billy, Terri, and Ed are the first of many generations that are meeting at the cabin from all over the country this week. Betsy could see the childhood sparkle of magic memories dance across their faces when they spoke of the cabin. We spoke about the rich history of the area and the mysterious lost treasure of the famous bootlegger, Dutch Schultz, and how they used those back mountain roads to hide their still and run moonshine to NYC during the prohibition. They love that New York has a wealth of history and unparalleled beauty. They just visited the stoic West Point Military museum and tomorrow they are on their way to the historic Farmers Museum in Cooperstown. This family loves to travel and meet people. Their hope for the future of the cabin, tucked away at Big Indian, is to be able to continue to pass along its magnificent magic for many generations. The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Get out there! Experience the world and be kind to people along the way. It’s amazing discovering the connections you have with others, the love of life, and similarities you really do share. You just have to be open to it.” Thank you so much for sharing your heartwarming story and for visiting!
