Meet Destinie, Jon, & Sandy, from Queens, NY

Meet Destinie, Jon, and their dog, Sandy, from Queens, NY. Jon’s dad thought that they would hit it off and he was right! Jon & Destinie met up in a church parking lot and have been together since! They are “city folk who like to travel”. They like getting out of the city and enjoying what upstate has to offer. In planning this little getaway, they looked up what popular attractions are in this area. Jon has never been to a cave so they decided to visit. Jon is an automotive technician and Destinie is an electrician! HOWE awesome! Jon likes cooking and loves making seafood dishes. He also enjoys car racing. In talking about cars, Jon told Kaily that he was born prematurely, due to a car accident in Puerto Rico. He was dead for about 4 minutes from being choked by the umbilical cord. After resuscitation, he was in stable condition. While growing up, he had speech difficulties and slight learning disabilities. He wasn’t able to speak until 6-7 years old. He struggled with stuttering but with speech therapy, he now speaks nearly stutter-free. Jon spoke candidly about how people not being kind about his disabilities, while growing up, negatively impacted his mental health. Looking back, he is now able to find the silver lining because he is able to speak Spanish, English, and knows sign language! When we asked them if they had any advice to share, they said, “Learn how to love yourself, understand yourself, and follow your intuition. If it makes you happy then be happy” HOWE wonderful!
