Meet Dr. Yogani Govender

She is the regional project director for the Informal Science Education from the National Science Foundation. The Foundation can be used to develop an educational programs that encourages and engages young kids to learn science. She says that “we want more scientists in more scant, rural and remote communities.”

She works to help people in those communities to work to bring government & environmental resources to their communities for a more sustainable future. You can check out that work and some of those resources here: https://eaglehubs.org/en/services/ She says, The EPA has billions of dollars available for community organizations to get money but nobody applies so she does something similar to a roadshow, doing workshops so that people can come and learn how to write federal grant so they can apply for money. She currently lives in Puerto Rico and flew here last night to give a free class on grant writing tomorrow morning at SUNY Cobleskill from 8a-5p. Dr. Govender has studied caves all over the world and her next one will be in South Africa to study the oldest human remains ever found in a cave system! HOWE fascinating!

When Betsy asked her if she had one thing to tell the world, she said. “We should all take action to save this beautiful planet. Consume less, conserve more, reduce your carbon footprint. We are so blessed to live in such an amazing space and as humanity, we should all come together to protect it and we can make a difference if we unite in that.” Thank you, Dr. Govender for everything you do to make a difference and to make the world a better place. (Nos sentimos enormemente agradecidos a usted) Thank you for visiting
