Meet Jesus and Janet, from the Bronx, NY
Meet Jesus and Janet, born and raised in the Bronx, New York. They just recently relocated to Connecticut. They are absolutely loving the transition from city life to country life. While growing up, they were surrounded by the noisy hustle and bustle of the city and never really had the opportunity to slow down, be still, and enjoy the quiet of the great outdoors. The two met in 2008 while in college. Jesus joked that he was immediately friend-zoned; which eventually turned out to be the glue that held them together. They lived only blocks from one another in the Bronx. Their hour long commute, back and forth to college, consisted of a bus ride and then a train ride. It was from their moments of navigating busy city life together that a friendship was born. After college, they both went their separate ways, remaining good friends, and staying in touch. Jesus eventually met someone and fell in love. After they married, they found out she had breast cancer. He gave up everything in his life to become her full-time caregiver and see her through until the day she passed away. He said, “I really fell apart mentally and emotionally after losing my wife at such a young age. Becoming a caregiver to someone you love will change you forever. It will quickly put your life into perspective. You begin to understand how precious and fragile each moment is.” Through it all, Janet was right there by his side as a solid friend. He would call at all hours of the day in tears. He just needed someone to help him process what was happening, to listen, and support him. She was his strongest anchor and support in those moments. After his wife’s passing the pain became almost too much for him to bear and the two friends grew apart. Janet felt incredible sadness and abandonment. In the following years, Jesus went on to have a beautiful son, named Phoenix. It is a very fitting name. The Phoenix represents rising again, to rebuild life, after the complete and total burning of everything prior; similar to a rebirth. Jesus began heal and find his way back to a new normal. He missed Janet immensely. He did everything he could to rekindle their friendship but she was so hurt and her fear of being abandoned again kept her from acknowledging him. Then one day, she decided it was time to forgive him. She called him up and they have been together, this time, as a couple. This past July, on her birthday, he proposed to her in front of their closets friends and family at a beautiful vineyard. Her favorite thing about him is his kindness. He is the light and love of her world. She says, “The world needs more kindness and more men like Jesus.” His favorite thing about her is that he never has to translate his soul to her. He can be his authentic self and loves that she too can be her self. They both realize that each of them are on their own spiritual journeys. The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Life is just one great big experiment. None of us really know what we are doing. We are all doing the best we can with what we have and know. Don’t be afraid to forgive, apologize, take accountability, be grateful and worry less- not all necessarily in that order.” What a precious love story! May your future be filled with many amazing memories and beautiful adventures for many, many years together. Congratulations on your engagement! Thank you for visiting!
