Meet Josh and Colleen from New England. For them, life is all about messages—whether written, spoken, or etched in stone.

Josh, a mail carrier, follows in the footsteps of his mother, who also delivered letters through snow and storms. He fondly recalls childhood moments. “I remember pushing her mail truck out in the snow a few times,” he said.

He added he was in another career before becoming a mail carrier, but eventually, carrying on the family legacy seemed the best bet. “I really wanted something substantial,” he said. “Something important.”

Meanwhile, for Colleen, a hairdresser by trade, finds her messages in stone. A passionate rockhound, she collects crystals and minerals, fascinated by their age and mystery. “It’s crazy because they’ve been down there so long—you don’t know when they formed or how long they’ve been there,” she said.

The most beloved gems in her collection include amethyst, citrine, and a massive smoky quartz. Each stone holds symbolic meaning: amethyst for calm and divine messages, citrine for joy and creativity, and smoky quartz for grounding.

The couple recently visited Howe Caverns, drawn by its geological wonder after exploring other local attractions.

For two people who find meaning in messages, be they letters or layers of the earth, it was the perfect destination.

“I’m really excited to go down into the caves and see some cool things,” Colleen said. “Josh has been here, but I haven’t, and I can’t wait.”
