Meet Kaytee and Tammy

Meet Kaytee and Tammy—both originally from Arkansas, reconnecting in Upstate New York. Kaytee, a seasoned world traveler and hiking enthusiast, is visiting Tammy at her lake house about an hour away. Though Kaytee has explored trails across the globe, Howe Caverns was a bucket-list stop.

“I always brought my kids here,” Tammy said, noting her main goal was to give Kaytee a feel for upstate New York before they head to Niagara Falls.

Kaytee noted the similarities to caverns in northern Arkansas. “It’ll be fun to see the differences.”

Their lives have followed unique paths: Kaytee once raised sheep and llamas with her ex-husband on their farm in Arkansas, where they cultivated heirloom tomatoes and Kentucky wonder beans. Her ex now runs a newspaper serving the Little Rock area. Today, Kaytee works as an activities director for the elderly and encourages people to live now, not save everything for later.

But Tammy’s advice focuses more on the passage of time. “I couldn’t tell you what my philosophy is… we all change.”

Now, she enjoys her lake house and the freedom of boating. “Two houses are better than one,” she laughed.

Together, they’re a reminder of the importance of friendship, embracing change, and savoring life’s adventures—whether beneath ancient rock or beside a peaceful lake.

Thank you so much for visiting!
