Meet Kathy, and her son, James, from Derby, England

Derby is located next to Nottingham – it is considered to be the “lesser known little brother” Fun fact, Robin Hood is from Nottingham! Kathy’s aunt lives locally so she has been in the area a few times. James, on the other hand, visited here last when he was young. During this trip they have been exploring and enjoying all that New York has to offer. Their journey started with a week long stay in New York City and then they went to Niagara Falls. Now, they are back in the Catskills. They are very excited that they will experience the July 4th, for the first time, in Washington D.C.! Kathy & James came to Howe Caverns because of their interest in nature. In England, spelunking is known as “potholing”, which Kathy did once in Derbyshire. While Kathy is an accountant, James has a true eye for nature. He went to Broomfield College, which specializes in agriculture, and conservation. His real passion lies in entomology. James said that his favorite insect is an ant, which may come as a surprise to most Did you know that once ants have mated, queens quickly chew off their own wings because they no longer need them? James and Kathy both had just a few parting words. The pair said, “Just enjoy life while it lasts. Enjoy every day as it happens, and enjoy learning about and experiencing new things,” Safe travels! Thank you so much for visiting!
