Meet Kelly and Chris from England

Chris is an engineer and a work project brought the couple to the United States in June. Kelly works in communications for a law firm and is able to work remotely. Their stay in the United States will come to a close in three weeks. They met while at University. Chris was attending college with one of Kelly‘s childhood friends. While visiting her friend, Kelly attended a party which was being held at Chris’ house. They did not hit it off right away. Kelly actually thought that Chris was quite rude. Ironically, a couple of years later, they ended up at another party together! Obviously, the second meeting went much better than the first. When Betsy asked them what turned the tables, they said, it was their love of snooker (a game similar to pool ). They don’t enjoying playing it as much as they enjoy watching it. In their opinion, snooker is nearly impossible to play because it takes so much skill. They ended up having a wonderful conversation about the game. On their first date they decided that a game of pool was in order. They agreed that whoever won, would pay the other $20.00. Of course, Kelly won which left Chris a little sore about the loss. Gracefully, she bowed out of her $20.00 win and gave him the money back. He used the money to take her to a movie on their second date. They have been together for 22 years. Kelly says that the most complicated aspect of their relationship is that she is incredibly scheduled and organized and Chris is very much a free spirit and spontaneous. These days they have found a way to compromise so that both of their needs are met. Kelly’s favorite thing about Chris is that he just gets her. Chris’ favorite thing about Kelly is that she never holds a grudge. She moves on very quickly from disagreements, which always enables healthy communication between them. The one thing they wanted to tell the world is, “People don’t see you the way you see yourself. Often times we are our own worst critics. It’s so important to have a positive self image. Speak kindly to yourself. Speak to yourself as if you are speaking to someone you love.” Thank you so much for visiting!
