Meet Linda & Rick from Narragansett Bay, RI

Years ago, Linda’s uncle set them up on a blind date. Rick was not very fond of the idea of dating his friend’s niece so he wasn’t overly excited about the date. However, once he met Linda, he quickly changed his mind. He says he was in love by the end of the first date! They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1981. The last time they visited Howe Caverns was 43 years ago while on their honeymoon! Rick’s parents were married in 1945 and also visited Howe Caverns while on their honeymoon! He said they still have their original Howe Caverns’ beanie caps from that trip. Today the caps look really cool and dated so Rick checked out our gift shop to see if he could snag some nostalgic Howe Caverns merch to take home. He went on to tell Betsy that his parents also came back on their 45th wedding anniversary. When Betsy asked them what keeps them together after 43 years of marriage? They said, “We keep adventure alive.” They travel together as much as they possibly can. When they were first married, their camping adventures started in tents. Thirty five years ago, they upgraded to an RV. This past year, they traveled coast to coast in that very same RV. They just came back from a six week trip to Europe. They also own a sailboat in the Narragansett Bay. They say although they’ve seen a lot of the world, there’s no place more beautiful than the Catskill mountains, especially this time of year. If they could tell the world one thing, it would be, “The good old days are being lived right now, so take every advantage to enjoy them in the moment.” Safe travels!

Thank you for visiting, Linda & Rick
