Meet Logan from Tennessee
Logan is a 15 yr. old, all-American boy who happens to be a hard-working farm hand at the 200 acre Sunset Valley Farms in Tennessee. He is on summer vacation visiting family here in New York. Logan is already quite the leader at such a young age. After he landed his job at the local farm, a few of his siblings, and even his Mom followed in his footsteps, working at the farm too. When we asked Logan what his future looked like, he said, “I want to be an American farmer.” It can be so easy to take America’s agricultural abundance for granted. America’s farming families represent only two percent of the population and they feed the other 98 percent with the fruits of their labor. This is a hugely significant shift from our nation’s first 100 years when most Americans lived and worked on farms. Unfortunately, the number of farms in the U.S. has suffered a steady decline as mounting production expenses allow only the biggest producers to survive. While the odds may be stacked against Logan, when Betsy asked him if he had one thing to tell the world, he said, “Never let your imagination die. Believe in the impossible. Imagination is where visions are born.” So wise for such a young man. HOWE truly proud his parents must be! Thank you for visiting!
Please remember to support our nation’s farmers whenever possible. Shop local, think global.
