Meet Mariah & Blaise from Lake Huron, Michigan
They lived very similar childhoods and attended the same high school. They each have one other sibling. Mariah is the youngest sibling in her family and Blaise is the eldest in his. During the summer in between high school and college they began dating. With the summer quickly fading into fall and their college season approaching, Blaise asked Mariah to officially be his girlfriend. She said, “We are both leaving for college in a couple of months. That will only give us a couple of months.” He said, “I’d rather have a couple of months than nothing at all.” Mariah agreed and the relationship lasted right through their college careers. Mariah went on to study psychology and worked in research labs which is where she fell in love with the science behind psychology. She received her bachelor’s degree and then went on to acquire her PhD. When Blaise was a child he was fascinated with the design, mechanics and building of things. He was always playing with Legos, drawing diagrams and in high school he was fascinated with the mechanics of cars. He knew that he wanted to do something with his natural talent. He went on to obtain his Mechanical Engineering degree and was recently hired by a Naval Nuclear Laboratory. In the past year, the couple has graduated with their degrees, gotten married, and moved from Michigan to New York. They said, “The hardest part of our relationship is that we really are from two very different psychological stereotypes. Individuals whose careers focus on psychology are naturally drawn to communicate and honor emotional intelligence. Engineers minds are primarily more analytical and systematic. While stereotypically we are from two opposite mindsets, there is a beauty in that. Between the two of us we help support and fill in the gaps for each other. There’s really never a problem that we can’t solve together.” Mariah said, “My favorite thing about Blaise is everything! I appreciate that he is truly authentic. I love his brain. He’s never hiding anything. What you see is what you get.” Blaise said, “My favorite thing about Mariah is that she is very loving, purposeful, and intentional.” The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Hold on to what is good.” Mariah and Blaise, thank you for visiting!
