Meet, Jane, Irene, and Lias, from southern Germany
Irene & Lias work for a manufacturing company and were offered the opportunity to work abroad for three months. In August, Irene arrived in the United States two weeks prior to her job beginning, to enjoy some vacation time. Although she has traveled to several other countries, she had never been to the United States before. In September, Lias joined her. When Irene’s employer asked if she wanted to work abroad for three months, she immediately, said yes! When Lias was asked, he was hesitant and asked for more time to think about it. He had never left Europe and the idea of working abroad made him nervous. Eventually, he decided it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he decided to take the chance. Jane is a co-worker that was also offered the same opportunity. She had recently switched departments and decided against leaving so early on in her new position. She is here visiting Irene & Lias. Ten years ago, Jane had the same opportunity to work abroad. During that time, she visited many places and made many friends. She is here showing Irene and Lias around. The group said that having the opportunity to work in another country and be immersed in the community and culture is one of the best learning experiences that they’ve ever had offered to them. They would do it all over again. They had a few things they want to say:
“Life is not something you take, it’s an opportunity given to you. Live life to the fullest!”
-Jane “Begin with where you are, with what you have, to make the world better place.” -Irene “Don’t think about all of the things that could go wrong, think about all of the things that could go right and follow your dreams”
-Lias Thank you all so much for visiting!
We wish you the very best during this incredible adventure.
