Meet Oliver from Colorado

Today is his 7th birthday!

Oliver was asked to create a wish list for his birthday. On the top of his list was rocks! When Oliver’s, bonus dad James, saw that, he called and booked an overnight Tour & Stay package in our motel. Oliver is from a blended family and says that being from a blended family is very cool. Oliver loves his bonus brother, Jamey and Jamey’s birthday happens to be exactly two weeks after Oliver’s. In just a few weeks, they will both be 7 years old together! HOWE cool is that?! Rachael (Mom) and Betsy discussed blended families and how they may require some non-traditional adjustments and challenges that others may not understand. Putting the children first should always be a parent’s top priority. Sometimes blended families combine holidays and share “family moments” as a whole for the sake of the children. Children are incredibly adaptable and resilient. A blended family can help create adaptability and tolerance. As we know, all families look different; they come in all shapes and sizes. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is that children are safe and loved. James was also incredibly brave to share that he is transgender. The biases the world has placed on him has presented many hurdles. The most important things that the family wanted to convey through sharing their story is that they are a healthy, happy family and that they are capable of breaking generational traumas and raising beautiful humans! The one thing they want to tell the world is, “It doesn’t matter how smart you are, what creed, gender, race, or any other position you hold in life, the most important thing in this life is that you are kind to others. That is the most important gift, we as humans, can give to each other.” Thank you so very much for sharing your story. Thank you for visiting! Happiest of birthdays, Oliver and Happy early Birthday, Jamey!
