Meet Robin, Bob, and Carol (left to right).

Robin and Bob have spent the last 48 years building a life together as husband and wife. More than 43 years ago, while working together at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, they met Carol, who quickly became much more than a coworker, she became a lifelong friend. What began as a shared workplace would grow into a friendship filled with thousands of memories, countless adventures, and decades of laughter. Over the years, one trip led to another, and they discovered that the best memories often come from the moments they never planned for. Together, they’ve weathered hurricanes, earthquakes, and blizzards, learning firsthand that even a simple weekend getaway to the Poconos can unexpectedly turn into an 18-hour journey with no electricity!

This past April, Robin retired, giving her even more time to embrace her love of travel that has always been part of who she is. In just the past year, Robin, Bob, and Carol have explored Alabama, Poland, Aruba, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Vermont, and New York. With only North Dakota and Hawaii left, they’re just two states away from visiting all 50. Even after reaching that milestone, they know their travels won’t end. There will always be another road to take, another destination to discover, and another memory waiting to be made.

Their visit to Howe Caverns today wasn’t part of the original plan. They were on their way to the Finger Lakes when they decided to stop, convinced they had visited the caverns years before, but as they went on their tour, everything felt unfamiliar. Before long, they realized that this was actually their first time visiting. Robin’s favorite part of the tour was Winding Way, and fittingly, its name reflects the story she, Bob, and Carol have shared for decades. Their journey together hasn’t always followed the route they expected, but it’s been filled with unexpected adventures, unforgettable snowstorms, and the quiet comfort of knowing that no matter where life takes them, they’ll be there together. In the end, it is never the storms, the detours, or the unpredictable moments that matter the most. It’s the fact that Robin, Bob, and Carol turn their moments into lifelong memories.
