Meet the Ara family from Bangladesh
They currently live in Bronx, New York. The Ara family is Muslim. They explained to Betsy that their culture is rooted in unity and togetherness. In their words, their family “is very tight knit”. They do everything together: share meals, take vacations, pray and as it is custom, multiple generations that live together in one home. For them, even friends are considered sisters and brothers. They decided to use the Thanksgiving holiday to escape the city. The Bronx is one of five bustling boroughs of New York City. It is also the northernmost borough and the only one that sits almost entirely on the mainland. The family proudly told me that they reside near Yankee Stadium. Their Bronx pride runs deep. Their daily lives are packed full and fast paced. They work in multiple locations around the city. This was the family’s their first time ever celebrating Thanksgiving. It’s not something they had ever even thought of celebrating before. For the past few days, they have been enjoying the peace and serenity of the Catskills, their time together, and everything that they are grateful for. The one thing they want to tell the world is. “We all have different solutions to the same problem. The most important thing in life is to try and understand each other. Differences are what make the world a beautiful place.” Thank you so much for visiting
