Meet the Waidmann family from Stuttgart, Germany

The city of Stuttgart is known as the “cradle of the automobile.” It is the birthplace of both Mercedes Benz and Porsche. Twenty seven years ago, Anja (Mom) lived in the United States as an exchange student. Her host family brought her to Howe Caverns and she never forgot that visit. She now returned with her own family and hopes that one day her children will bring their families to visit the cave! It never ceases to amaze us how, no matter where in the world people may come from, our cave often becomes a family tradition woven into the fabric of people’s lives globally. We are honored to host guests from every walk of life, from all over the world, year round. When we asked them what they could tell the world they said, “It is important to be mindful of the environment around us. It is truly a gift and we are only here as caretakers for a moment.
