Meet Yeimmy, Rebeca, and Emilio (Rebecca’s son) from Brooklyn, New York. Yeimmy is a chef in Times Square and Rebecca works independently for a private family in Brooklyn. Yeimmy came to Howe Caverns to celebrate her 40th birthday! She was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia She is the youngest sibling of four. She has one older brother and two older sisters. Her favorite childhood memories are the times she traveled with her musician father and her family to his shows. She immigrated to the United States three years ago. Rebecca was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador She has one younger sister. Her favorite childhood memory was a Christmas gift from her mother. She said, “Culturally we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. One Christmas Eve, when I was about seven years old, my mother gave me my very first Barbie. I remember being so overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude that I cried.” She immigrated to the United States five years ago. The hardest thing, that either of them has had to endure in life, was immigrating to the United States. They said, “There are many cultural differences and language barriers. Although we love the life that we have built here in America, we both miss our families, friends and the culture of our home countries.” The couple met, three years ago, in the spring, at a party through a mutual friend. Yeimmy said, “Rebecca stole my heart immediately. To me, she is the most beautiful woman in the world.” Their first official date was to Disney World with Emelio. Yeimmy said, “My favorite thing about Rebecca is that she is our home. When the world seems like it can be too much to handle, she calms the storm. She is our rock.” Rebecca said, “My favorite thing about Yeimmy is that she literally is a human firework! Everything she does is an explosion of passion. She puts her heart and soul into everything that she does.” Two years ago, Yeimmy proposed to Rebecca and she said yes. The one thing a couple wants to tell the world is, “Follow your heart. The most important thing in this life is to find your happiness. When you are happy all that joy and love overflows to those that you love.” Happiest of Birthdays Yeimmy!
