Meet Zhanna from Russia

She is a medical doctor of Endocrinology.

She immigrated to the United States four years ago so that she could grow and gain international experience in her field. The first year of living in the United States, going through her fellowship, was incredibly difficult for her, but now, she says that she could not imagine going back to her former life. Her goal as a mother, is to give her daughter a life of opportunity, and to show her that anything is possible. In Russia, there are more female doctors than male and believe it or not, it is a low paying profession. In the U.S., she is often mistaken for a nurse. She chuckled about that and said that it is important to not ever let gender roles get in the way of pursuing your dream. Betsy asked beautiful Dr. Zhanna if she had any advice to share and she said, “Be mindful of other people. Treat them the way you would want to be treated.” We LOVE that!
