Meet Angela & Elroy from Upstate NY

Angela was born and raised in Schenectady, New York. Elroy was born in St. Thomas and moved to the Bronx, New York when he was five years old. Shortly after relocating, his father passed away. His mother single-handedly raised him and his four brothers. Throughout his childhood, he grew up poor and lived in public housing. During his senior year of high school, his mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. He said, “For about a year my brothers and I stuck together. I was the second youngest of the five of us. After I graduated high school I left the city and moved to Schenectady, New York to attend Union College. That is where I met Angela.” Angela also had to navigate her Father’s multiple sclerosis diagnosis at a young age. At the time, Angela was serving as the Director of the Community Outreach and Science Technology entry program. Elroy had taken on a work study program in the same department. The two built a beautiful friendship. Elroy went on to graduate and then went on to receive his PhD in Nanoscale Science and engineering, from SUNY Albany. Angela holds her MBA. Today the couple has been married for 17 years and have two beautiful boys together, Zane and Micah. They are also committed to giving back and helping those who want to have a financially healthy and secure future. They are the driving force behind, YOU INC., Wealth Education Services. They said, “Life is not always perfect and can at times be messy. It’s important to build a foundation that can withstand the storms of life.” When asked how they do that for themselves, Angela said, “There are many different perspectives, challenges and solutions in life but first and foremost we live by a 3-strand rule; him, me & God. That is our foundation on which everything is built. When Zane was born, he was born with a defect that required surgery. I thought it was going to take a very long time for him to heal so I took time off of work. At that moment, life just pivoted for us. Eventually, we became entrepreneurs and then we chose to homeschool our children. Today we teach people how to stop living day-to-day, paycheck to paycheck, and how to start projecting and building towards a financially healthy future.” The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Make sure you take the time to enjoy the journey.
