Meet Corrinne & Ian from Cazenovia, NY
One year ago today, they were married in the cave by, our officiant & cave manager, Brian! Corrinne and Ian grew up in the same small town. They went all through their school years, growing up together, each unknowingly having a secret crush on the other! As young adults, they each shifted their focus from their small town world to college studies and building careers. Twenty years later, social media reconnected them. Ian came up as a “suggested friend” in Corrinne’s Facebook feed. She said, “I saw Ian’s profile picture and thought to myself, “I’m going to marry that man.” For their one year wedding anniversary, they decided to spend the night in the Howe Caverns motel and take a traditional cave tour. Originally, their plan was to take a vacation to Hawaii but this past August they decided to put their Hawaii vacation on hold so that they could invest in a bigger, long-term dream. They recently purchased an old dairy farm which is home to a historic schoolhouse. The couple has plans to convert the land into a homestead and live a more eco-friendly, sustainable life together. Corrinne is an equestrian and currently has seven horses. In the coming year, the couple will move their horses to their new land and start building their new home. Corrinne said, “If the first year is supposed to be the hardest, we’ve already made it through the hardest part. Honestly, it felt as natural as breathing. The hardest part of life, for me, is to just slow down appreciate the journey. Even though the days feel long, time is fleeting. It’s important that we make sure to prioritize our time together and savor it.” Ian’s favorite thing about Corrinne is her eternal optimism and her happiness is infectious. Corrinne says that her favorite thing about Ian is that, “No matter the situation he is always incredibly calm. He is my safe harbor in the storm.” The one thing they want to tell the world is, “We are not meant to be alone. We are meant to build a life with another person. Combining lives and resources together is frightening but well worth it. We rise up by lifting others. A stick by itself is strong but a bundle of sticks tightly latched together is stronger.” Happy 1st Anniversary, Corrinne and Ian!
Wishing you a lifetime of good health, happiness & adventures. Thank you for celebrating with us
