Meet Judy, a runner from Connecticut
Meet Judy, a runner from Connecticut. Adventure begins the moment she steps outdoors. Whether it’s the beauty of a 5 a.m. winter run with a headlamp or the grandeur of an Alaskan glacier, she loves every moment she spends in nature.
“I wake up every day on fire to go outside,” she said. “It could be ten degrees or a hundred degrees or raining—I love being out in all of it.”
Originally from Amelia Island, Florida, Judy has called the Northeast home for decades, but just discovered Howe Caverns thanks to a friend’s postcard.
“I was so entranced by that postcard—the photo was just so beautiful, I had to come,” she said. “The tour was fantastic. It was mesmerizing to see what Mother Nature has done over millions of years, and [Howe Caverns] has made it so accessible for us.”
Judy spends as much time as she can in the natural world: She’s a familiar face in her local running, biking, and pickleball communities and has participated in more than 50 races, often alongside her three grown children.
“I love to see new things,” she said. “The world is beautiful.”
Her travels have taken her from the fjords of Scandinavia to the wilderness of Alaska, and she’s already planning her next journey—Thailand, where she hopes to volunteer in elephant conservation.
But for Judy, adventure doesn’t always require a passport.
“Every sunrise, every sunset is an adventure,” she said.
Thank you so much for visiting, Judy!
