Meet Karen
Meet Karen (left) from Accord, New York, a little hamlet nestled between the Catskill Mountains and the Shawangunk Ridge. Today marked her third visit to Howe Caverns and she brought a very special guest, Howie, a collectible horse from the Lefton collection that she purchased as a teenager. Now 50 years old, Howie remains a cherished piece of her past.
Karen shared how much she loves the cave and enjoys following our Facebook page. We love connecting with guests who are part of our extended Howe community! Melanie (right in the picture) guided Karen’s tour today and Karen said that she did a fantastic job, making her third visit truly memorable. Karen is looking forward to coming back this summer to do our Signature Rock Signature Tour. Opened to the public May 3, 2015, the Signature Rock Discovery Tour revealed the mystery behind the doors opening a new world of fascination, sights and memories for adventurous visitors.
Karen’s passion for collecting is incredible. She has over 2,200 horses in her collection! When she’s not expanding her collection Karen enjoys working on hit-and-miss engines restoring and appreciating these unique pieces of vintage machinery. She also gives back to her community as a volunteer firefighter, a role she has proudly served in for the past three years. Karen believes strongly in working hard, being honest, and loving animals, all values that clearly define her.
Karen thinks that everyone should “Come to Howe Caverns!” We agree and we are so glad that Karen continues to return and create new memories with us. Thank you so much for visiting
