Meet Kyle and Matteo from Brooklyn, NY

Matteo was born and raised in Brooklyn and Kyle was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada and moved to Brooklyn in 2016. They met through a friend seven years and officially became a couple a year ago. Both of them have a background in the entertainment industry. Kyle just finished working in Albany at the Capital Repertory Theater on a show called “Seared.” At one time, they both worked on Blacklist, but at different times, so they never crossed paths. As a child, Kyle was painfully shy. In the 7th grade, he auditioned for a class play, that is when his passion for acting came alive. Matteo is a maker by design and genetics. His father was a carpenter and he vividly remembers him building their home when he was a child. That sparked his interest in how and why things are created. When the pandemic hit he was faced with no work. He began putting his creativity to work and designed what he calls his “Covid Baby.” Matteo is now an entrepreneur with his own successful candle making business. When Betsy asked them what the glue is that holds their relationship together, they said, “We are both verbal processors and we are both are very, very good at communication.” They agreed that because of that connection, their relationship is incredibly healthy. The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Stop people pleasing. Become your authentic self and stay true to that. Speak your truth. Be open and transparent. Learn how to communicate well. We are still learning. It is an incredible gift to give someone that you love something that they enjoy. Some people may look at giving to their partner as a burden. Flip that perspective and look at it as you have been given the opportunity to be the one to provide something for someone that you love.
