Meet Patty and Rob from Fairbanks, Alaska

Rob is a native of Homer, Alaska and Patty was born and raised upstate New York. The two met years ago through a mutual friend while Patty was serving in the military at Fort Wainwright. Their first interaction was just an introduction in passing. They went almost a year before seeing each other again. Their second interaction was more of a get together with friends. The atmosphere was relaxed with a bonfire, good company and good food. They took the opportunity to have a conversation and realized that they had several commonalities. They started to spend time together, going on adventures. In time, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives exploring the world together. Last year, Patty flew her childhood best friend out to Alaska to see the northern lights. The friend, who is an officiant and knew that the couple had plans to marry, officiated their wedding during the visit. March 15th will be their one year anniversary. Just a couple of weeks ago, Patty retired from her military service. During her time she served at bases in Germany, Poland, Australia, Alaska and many others. She and Rob are looking forward to just slowing down and enjoying life. Rob‘s favorite thing about Patty is, “She is up for anything and she is a wonderful adventure partner. She has a passion for life and isn’t afraid to inspire those around her by enjoying life as well!” Patty’s favorite thing about Rob is, “He makes some pretty good booze and he is my best friend. He’s my greatest adventurer yet!” Rob owns his own distilling company, in Fairbanks, named, “Ursa Major Distilling.” He produces small batch akvavit, vodka, gin, and rum. His quantities are limited and locally sought after. He said, “The batches are so rare that when people purchase them, they often don’t want to open the bottles. Just like life, I tell them that they should experience and savor it.” The one thing they want to tell the world is, “Be kind to those you meet along the way on your journey and don’t be afraid to live your life! Truly live it and experience it. Do the things that make you happy and take some time for you. Your time here is limited. This is your small batch. Savor it for all it’s worth!” Thank you for visiting!
