Meet the Patel family from Mumbai, India

If you have ever seen the movie, “Slumdog Millionaire”, you know exactly where we’re talking about. If you didn’t know, Mumbai is actually seven islands combined. It is home to the Elephanta Caves; a manmade, hand-carved cave system that dates back to medieval Mumbai. It is also home to the world’s most expensive house, Antilla, a 4.6 billion dollar home built in 2023! The Patel family currently resides in Chicago for the majority of the year, as they have for the past 15 years. They moved to the United States for a better quality of life, a cleaner environment, better healthcare, better educational systems, more safety, and security. The things they miss the most about home are the food, family, and festivals. They do still go home to Mumbai to visit and they spent 4 months there last summer. They are currently on their way to New Jersey to visit the largest Hindu mandir in the United States and also happens to be the second-largest Hindu mandir in the world, standing at 213 ft. tall! Betsy shared wonderful conversation with them about the world and humanity. When asked if there was one thing they could tell the world, they said, “Everyone should see the world with no borders, no races, no segregation. We are one planet and we are all the one human race. One humanity. One love.” Thank you so much for your beautiful words and for visiting us If you’re interested in learning about the second largest Hindu temple in the world, you can do so here https://usa.akshardham.org/
